Next Saturday, April 26th, Join us for SPRING FEST and the Kick Off of the Waverly Place Farmers’ Market! We’ll have live music, a fashion show, great local food, and our 3rd Annual Bonnet and Hat Competition from 9am – 1pm.

With a new location on the shopping center Promenade, a handful of new vendors are excited to be a part of the Market, and the first Saturday of the season will be packed with fun. New additions include Coon Rock Farm, a local produce and pasture-raised meats and eggs from Hillsborough, N.C., Taylor Made Goods, homemade, organic soaps and products made with mother nature’s goodness, and JW Designs- handcrafted, customized wire-wrap button jewelry.

Market Update – Cantaloupe – Corn on the Cob

4th July

We’ve officially made the move to the upper parking lot at Waverly, near Gigi’s Cupcakes and Taziki’s! Join us this Saturday from 9am – Noon for delicious produce, meat, sweets and amazing handmade crafts.

The summer heat is finally bringing in those sweet favorites including cantaloupe and corn.  This Saturday, Wrenn Farm will be cooking up free samples of their yellow corn which can be found throughout the market. Be sure to swing by for a free piece!

Roger’s Cattle Company – On the Farm Update

“This was a good week for “rainy day jobs”.  Cleaning up around the barn along with catching up on paper work.  Even with the rain we still have to set up new temporary grazing paddocks for our cattle and sheep.  The broiler chickens require daily attention and will go to the processor on Monday.  This year’s baby turkeys arrive next week … Read More »

Featured Vendor – Rogers Cattle Company

Rogers Cattle Company is a diversified farm focusing on the sustainable production of forage based livestock and pasture raised meats. Pasture raised beef and pork, grass fed lamb along with free range chicken and turkeys are sold from their farm. They also offer our meats at several farmers markets in the triangle area including the Waverly Farmers Market. In addition they have a meat CSA including all of their meat products. All of their livestock is raised without the use of supplemental hormones and feed no antibiotics.

Grilled Kale, Blueberry and Goat Cheese Salad – WFM Recipe

INGREDIENTS
*Find these ingredients at the Waverly Farmers’ Market!

1 kale bunch, stems removed, leaves torn – Most Produce Vendors
1 Tbsp. olive oil
a generous pinch of salt
Bean sprouts – Green Life Sprouts
Goat Cheese, sliced – Goat Lady Dairy
Blueberries – Most Produce Vendors
basil leaves, sliced – Katherine’s Garden
lemon wedges to serve

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat the grill to high (Can also be broiled in the oven)
Combine the kale leaves, olive oil, and salt in a large bowl and massage with your hands for a few minutes. The kale should be covered in oil, but not dripping – a little goes a long way
Grill the kale leaves on one side for a few minutes, until the edges start turning crispy. Flip over and grill for a few more minutes until all edges are crispy and char spots appear. Remove and set aside.
